Engaging the cultural sector in creating an Ecological Age

WHEN: October 26th 2010
WHERE: Sala Alessi – Palazzo Marino, Municipality of Milan
FRAMEWORK: in the 4th edition of Ragnarock Nordic Festival, Ragnarock Association, together with the Danish Cultural Institute, will arrange a conference about Cultural Changes in the new Ecological Age, where different cultural sectors (e.g. art, music, architecture, design, and fashion) will be presented in relation to current environmental challenges. The aim is to create a place for a constructive, creative dialogue between Italy and the Nordic countries.
GOALS:

To discuss the importance of a change in attitudes and of an evolution of values and lifestyle, in order to cope with current environmental challenges;

To elaborate and discuss how the attitudes toward the environmental challenges can be promoted by the cultural sector;

To present and compare the experiences about culture and sustainability in Italy and the Nordic countries in the field of urban development, architecture, fashion, and art, in order to increase knowledge and interest in interdisciplinary cooperation;

To promote Nordic countries’ best practices in the sustainability field, trying to create a shared reflection on environment and culture.
The long-term goal consists in developing the cooperation between Nordic countries, Italy, and other countries all over the word putting in practise for a network of international contacts.

Ragnarock is a cultural non-profit association, est. in Milan in 2007, with the intention of improving our society through intercultural, political, and economic exchange between different countries. In Italy, our goal is to promote Nordic best practices in terms of environment, green economy, and corporate responsibility through art, music, cultural and political meetings, exhibitions, and cultural events.
