RAGNAROCK NORDIC FESTIVAL presents: ‘Rebuilding the future after COP15: green economy and competitiveness’.

June 22nd 2010

Milan

Six months ago the Governments of the world gathered in Copenhagen to attend the United Nations Conference on Climate Change. On that occasion political leaders failed to reach an ambitious and comprehensive agreement on climate change. Six months after the conclusion of the conference, the international goal is still to agree on a pathway towards achieving the initial target: a reversal of the trend of CO2 emissions, an improved energy efficiency and an increased reliance on renewable energies such as geothermic, solar power and biomass.

Nordic Countries can take the lead in this process. They advocate a model based on a fundamental commitment to continuous green research and innovation. According to such a model, politics supports and steers industries towards the creation of a competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy, capable of sustainable economic growth yielding more and better jobs as well as increased social cohesion. This co-ordinated policy has allowed Nordic countries to become leaders in energy efficiency, welfare, telecommunication, infrastructures, sustainability and the environment. Thanks to this commitment, they seem on the right path to succeed in the goal of efficiently combating climate change whilst creating responsible societies

The aim of this conference is to bring Nordic best practices to the Italian audience and to create the opportunity to discuss, share and inspire, on a political and industrial level, both Nordic and Italian representatives.

The morning session will focus on environmental policies. During the round table, under the patronage of the European Commission, key Nordic policy makers will discuss and present their experience and solutions.

The afternoon session will be dedicated to industries. Nordic companies will meet with their Italian counterparts. Nordic models, which are based on the adoption of solutions that are both economically efficient and environmental friendly, will be presented.
